Applications

The SOMATEC ATW-S winds heavy rolls and wide materials in continuous operation — the heavy-duty solution for flooring, film and nonwoven production.

Flooring production — Heavy PVC flooring (LVT, vinyl), heterogeneous flooring and carrier webs
Roofing membranes & construction films — Heavy bitumen sheets, vapor barriers and sealing films
Artificial leather production — Heavy PVC and PU artificial leather webs
Technical textiles — Heavy geotextiles, reinforcement fabrics and coated textiles
Film converting — Thick composite films, heavy packaging films and technical films
Nonwoven processing — Heavy nonwovens and filtration materials
Automotive — Interior trim materials and technical composite films
Paper and board processing — Heavy paper rolls in coating and lamination lines

Why the ATW-S?

With mandrels traveling directly on the turret system, the ATW-S offers even greater flexibility in accommodating different core lengths than the ATW-C. This allows the machine to optimally adapt to changing production conditions. Selectable contact or gap winding with motorized rider rolls ensure perfect winding results for roll weights up to 5,000 kg.

Typical Configurations

Flexible production: ATW-S with mandrels traveling directly on the turret system for quick changeover between different core lengths without retooling
Converting line: SOMATEC unwinder + ATW-S winder for loss-free non-stop operation with maximum format flexibility
Heavy rolls: ATW-S with motorized rider rolls and automatic roll removal via lifting cart or lifting table

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the ATW-S the right choice? — When heavy rolls need to be wound at high web tension. The ATW-S is the reinforced variant for demanding converting applications.
Which industries is the ATW-S suitable for? — Flooring production, heavy films, technical textiles, roofing membranes and artificial leather.
Can the ATW-S be integrated into existing lines? — Yes — SOMATEC delivers the ATW-S also as retrofit. SOMATEC coordinates the interface between existing line and new winder.
How does the ATW-S differ from the ATW-E? — Reinforced construction for higher roll weights and web tensions. Same operating concept, more robust mechanics.
