Benefits

Easy Clean Design — Reflectors separately accessible, cleanable and individually replaceable without lamp removal. A decisive advantage in industrial environments with plasticizer vapors or coating mist.
System efficiency — SOPARA IR systems operate without active reflector cooling. No process heat is removed by cooling air. In practice, often 20–30% higher energy efficiency at field level.
Mechanical stability — Lengths up to 6.5 meters without sagging. Rectangular cross-section for homogeneous radiation distribution with fewer hotspots.
Fast response time — Short-wave: ~1 second, medium-wave: 3–10 seconds. Protects web materials during sudden line stops.
Flexible zoning — Multi-channel filament for independent heating zones and edge compensation within a single lamp.
Industry-standard cross-sections — 23×11 and 33×15 mm fit existing IR field cassettes. Retrofit without mechanical changes.

Available variants

Short-wave (SW): 0.8–1.5 µm, up to 500 kW/m², response time ~1 second, tungsten filament. Typical for curing, composites, thermoforming. Medium-wave (MW): 2–4 µm, up to 80 kW/m², response time 3–10 seconds, tungsten/NiCr/carbon fiber. Typical for coating drying, lamination. Both variants in same cross-section — switching from short-wave to medium-wave without cassette change.

Available Options

Single-sided cable connection — simplified installation in limited space
Dual-channel filament — two independent heating circuits for edge compensation
Carbon fiber filament — optimized MW emission, barely visible light, up to 30% less energy
Star filament — maximum mechanical stability of the heating wire
Ceramic reflector — for high-temperature environments
Custom lengths — up to 6,500 mm for widest webs
Ruby glass filter — reduction of visible light (SW only)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a twin-tube IR lamp? — A twin-tube IR lamp consists of two parallel quartz tubes in a shared reflector housing. This design doubles the power density on the same area and enables more uniform heat distribution than single-tube variants.
Which wavelength is right for my process? — The optimal wavelength depends on the material. Short-wave (0.8–1.5 µm) for surface drying and rapid heating, medium-wave (1.5–4 µm) for water-based coatings and adhesives, long-wave (>4 µm) for thick substrates. SOPARA tests your material in their lab in Pusignan near Lyon — before the investment.
How long does a SOPARA IR lamp last? — The lifespan depends on operating hours, switching cycles and environmental conditions. SOPARA lamps are designed for industrial continuous operation. Specific lifespan figures can be provided after a process analysis.
What sets SOPARA lamps apart from other IR manufacturers? — 84 years of experience (founded 1942), own manufacturing in France, ISO 9001:2015 certified, and a dedicated test laboratory in Pusignan near Lyon. SOPARA delivers not just lamps but complete systems — from emitter to switchgear.
Can SOPARA assess my existing IR field? — Yes — SOPARA analyzes your drying or heating process, evaluates the efficiency of the existing IR system and identifies optimization potential. If a retrofit or replacement makes sense, SOPARA designs the appropriate solution — from the lamp to the switchgear.
